Exporting your email (taking it with you)

Your email is yours. You can take a full copy with you at any time, whether for a backup or to move to another provider. There is no lock-in.

Option 1 — Do it yourself with a desktop mail app (recommended)

The simplest way to get a complete, portable copy:

1. Set up your mailbox in Thunderbird (free) or any desktop mail app using the IMAP settings. IMAP downloads your whole mailbox, folders included.
2. Let it finish syncing all folders.
3. In Thunderbird, right-click a folder and choose Export (or use the “ImportExportTools” add-on) to save messages as standard .eml/.mbox files you keep forever.

To move to another provider, most providers (Gmail, Microsoft 365, cPanel, etc.) have an “import from another account” wizard — give it your MyPandos IMAP settings and an app password, and it pulls everything across directly.

Option 2 — Download from webmail

In webmail you can select messages and download them, and export calendars (.ics) and contacts (.vcf). This is handy for a few items but slower for a whole mailbox — use Option 1 for everything at once.

Option 3 — Ask us for a full export

Your MyPandos administrator can produce a complete archive of your mailbox (messages in standard format, plus calendars and contacts) and hand it to you. Just ask — we'll confirm the format and how you'd like to receive it.

Standard formats mean no lock-in

However you export, you get standard files (.eml/.mbox for mail, .ics for calendars, .vcf for contacts) that any mail program or provider can read. Nothing is in a proprietary MyPandos-only format.
